Sunday, 14 October 2007 Times of Oman World Hunger Relief | MUSCAT —Pizza Hut, as a part of YUM Restaurant International, has embarked on a fund-raising initiative called the ‘World Hunger Relief Week’(WHRW), being held from October 14 to October 20. YUM is partnering the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s largest humanitarian agency bringing food to nearly 100 million of the world’s poor in over 80 developing nations each year. This World Hunger Relief Week will feature raising awareness of the ever-increasing world hunger problem, raising funds for the World Food Programme through a one-week promotion at various eating outlets around the world. Pankaj Khimji, director of Khimji Ramdas, said: “We are proud of supporting this global cause undertaken by United Nations World Food Programme. Hunger is a global issue and it is up to us to make a difference to the lives of the poor and the impoverished.” World Food Programme is the world’s largest international food relief agency combating hunger in underdeveloped nations. |  | This programme has fed more than one billion of the world’s poorest people for more than 40 years; and currently operates in 82 countries. It has also committed more than $30 billion for relief and development activities worldwide and delivered over 60 million tonnes of food to 100 countries. It currently features a school feeding programmes in more than 60 countries helping 15 million children a year.
