Muscat, 2 July 2018: Eshraqa, Khimji Ramdas’ social development arm, recently attended Sultan Qaboos University’s handicapped Graduation Ceremony to award students for their excellence in academic achievements. Extending Eshraqa’s cores focus on empowering youth under its education pillar, 15 students with visual impairments and physical disabilities were handed advanced, specially designed DELL and Microsoft Surface laptops in order to aid continued learning. The event was led by Dr Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, Vice-Chancellor of SQU, and attended by Nailesh Khimji,Director of Khimji Ramdas with the Eshraqa Team who celebrated this milestone achievement for local youth.
Commenting on the event, Nailesh Khimji, Director of Khimji Ramdas, said, “Our presentation of laptops to differently abled students was as much a celebration of their success as it was an opportunity to enhance their learning journey. We are thrilled that we had the opportunity to bring greater access through cutting-edge voice recognition software and touch-screen technology, and help graduates in their future employment to be a part of an ever-evolving world of technology.”

As a core pillar focussing on education, ‘Eshraqa Learns’ seeks to provide access to the means required for greater opportunities for capacity building, skill development, and academic attainment as an essential foundation for improving our quality of life”.

Other recent educational investments include KR’s donation of 10 hi-tech, innovative Braille Sense machines to the Omar Bin Khattab Institute for the Blind, helping the institution’s visually impaired students achieve better learning outcomes through advanced Braille technology.
